WRFG Labor Forum Program on Monday, June 15
On Monday, June 15, The Labor Forum on WRFG 89.3FM speaks with IATSE #927 members about the ongoing campaign to win union recognition with Live Nation and Crew One responsible for many of the largest concerts held in Atlanta area venues. Atlanta’s entertainment industry is receiving a great deal of state support and media attention for the money it is bringing in but low wages and safety issues for the thousands of workers who do the work remain invisible. Learn what IATSE #927 is doing to protect and empower the workers.
From 4:30-5pm, Disability LINK activists, ken Mitchell and Danny Housley will discuss the gains and weaknesses of the Americans with Disabilities Act, passed 25 years ago. One of the major issues facing disabled people is high unemployment and receiving a subminimum wage once hired. The issues facing all workers – good jobs, housing, transportation, education, healthcare, etc – are even more difficult to attain for those with disabilities. However, the passage of the ADA is a testimony to the organizing and determination of people with disabilities to win their rights.
