WRFG Labor Forum Program on Monday, Oct 5, 2015
The Labor Forum airs every Monday from 4-5pm on WRFG 89.3FM and online at http://www.wrfg.org.
The Oct 5 program features an update from Fight for $15 activists who will detail recent successes in the national effort to win higher wages and a union for workers in fast-food, retail, domestic and home healthcare and other service industries. In particular, plans for an Atlanta Wage Board will be discussed.
In the 4:30-5pm segment, Joel Edwards, retired MARTA bus driver and leader of Restore DeKalb, will discuss the education and other public service cuts in light of the multi-million dollar deal with Arthur Blank’s professional soccer team center to be built on county-owned land on Memorial Drive. The Labor Forum is continuing its examination of the impact on working people and their communities of publically-funded sports facilities and other corporate-driven developments in metro Atlanta. What to do about the failure of elected officials to work for the interests of the majority of people is the question we will address
