WRFG Labor Forum Program on Monday, Oct 19

On Monday, Oct. 19, from 4-5pm,The Labor Forum on WRFG 89.3FM will first speak with Jesse Freeston, director of an award-winning film, “Resistencia :The Fight for the Aguan Valley.” The documentary provides a picture of the struggle of farmers in Honduras following the coup of democratically-elected President Manuel Zalaya , to establish cooperatives and free themselves from the exploitative grip of the landed oligarchy, He will be in Atlanta on Wednesday, Oct. 21 for the premier screening of his film at GSU that evening.
Beginning at 4:30pm, the Labor Forum audience will hear about the contract victory reached at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. UNITE HERE members Alphonso Pines and Geno Lawson, a cook at the Hyatt, will talk about the issues facing hotel workers and the gains made in the contract.
The Labor Forum broadcasts on 89.3FM, is streamed at www.wrfg.org and the station has an App for mobile devices. In addition, The program is shown live on The Labor Forum YouTube channel.
