WRFG Labor Forum Program on Monday, April 18, 2016

Close to 40,000 Verizon workers are on strike, fighting to stop the telecommunication giant from gutting their contract and outsourcing their jobs. Deborah Casey and Leaburn Kennedy, members of CWA Local 2204 in southwestern Virginia will call into The Labor Forum at 4:30 to talk about why they are determined to win this battle. Local CWA #3204 member and AT&T worker, Eric Richardson will join the discussion from the studios of WRFG.

Earlier in the program, listeners will learn about an April 21 program connecting the the impact of state violence and displacement of Palestinians by the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 to the crisis of police murder and gentrification of communities of color in the US. Yolande Tomlinson of the Organization for Human Rights and Democracy will provide the details from 4:15-4:30pm.

The Labor Forum, WRFG 89.3FM airs weekly on Mondays from 4-5pm, bringing the audience labor headlines, history, news and analysis of events impacting the lives of workers,their families and communities.Building solidarity among all those exploited and oppressed by the system that puts profit over people underlies the purpose of the program
