WRFG Labor Forum program on Monday, May 15

Every Monday from 4-5pm, The Labor Forum on WRFG 89.3FM brings you the voices of working people, leading the struggles for economic and social justice.

On May 15, at 4:15 Allison Johnson will update our listeners on the efforts by community residents in the neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field to reach a binding agreement with Georgia State University and Carter developers to include.their needs in the plan.
To underscore their determination not to be ignored, community members and their supporters have been occupying the corner of Abernathy and Hank Aaron, in front of Turner Field for close to 45 days. They have maintained the tent city despite horrific rain and wind storms, scorching heat and police harassment.
They are demanding affordable housing, jobs for community members, walkable sidewalks, green space and increased public transportation.
On Friday, May 19, the Walmart Truth Telling Tour will be stopping in Atlanta. Katie Foster of the AFL-CIO will be our guest from 4:30-4:55 to talk about the continuing issues of low-pay, wage theft, discrimination and other labor law violations that characterize this highly profitable corporation.  The tour is a project of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and will be holding an event in the IBEW Building parking lot, 501 Pulliam St 30312 at 2pm.
