With the conclusion of the WRFG summer pledge drive, the Labor Forum resumes its regular segments of Labor Headlines,
This Week in Labor History,an interview about a local struggle and in the last half hour, a discussion about an issue important
to working people.
At 4:15, Monteria Robinson whose son, Jamarion, was killed one year ago by US Marshals at his East Point apartment, will
describe her fight to get answers about the brutal death of her son. His body was riddled with 76 separate bullets in a frenzy of
firepower by militarized police. The impact of police violence on working class families, especially in communities of color is a subject
often discussed on The Labor Forum as an issue that requires class solidarity.
At 4:30, we will turn our attention to the union election loss at the Nissan plant in Canton, Ms. The vicious anti-union campaign
orchestrated by Nissan management with the full participation of state elected officials, business groups and the media was witnessed by
Atlanta supporters who went to Mississippi to help the campaign. The Labor Forum’s co-host, Dawn O’Neal and Atlanta Jobs with Justice
members will be in the studio to describe their experience. We have reached out to Nissan workers to call-in if they are able. The Labor Forum
applauds those workers who defied the enormous pressure exerted by Nissan and voted yes. The struggle continues.
The Labor Forum airs every Monday from 4-5pm on WRFG 89.3FM. We appreciate all those who made a donation during the pledge drive.
